Syns of Andy Warhol

I ordered The Blood of Dracula by Andy Warhol and it delivered to me just in time for Halloween!  I saw this when I was a kid and it’s just blood, camp and sexy all rolled into one – I was in love with it INSTANTLY!

It stars Joe Dellesandro and Udo Kier.

Reviews:

“Just the right amount of fantasy and reality – consistenly amusing.” (Newsweek)

“Horror at its ultimate.” (New York Daily News)

“Perverse and entertaining.” (The Village Voice)

It also boasts commentary by Paul Morrissey (writer and director) and Udo Kier.

WOW!

Syns of the Zombies!

There’s a new book out and guess what??  I”m totally gonna snag me a copy!!  It’s called:  So, Now You’re a Zombie: A Handbook for the Newley Undead.  I may be morbid – but I cannot wait to get a glimpse at this book!

Here’s what Publisher’s Weekly said about it: There is more to undeath than shambling around in search of brains to eat, but not much more, according to this short but detailed look at the new zombie, or zed, lifestyle. Filled with deadpan tips on how to succeed in the coming zombie apocalypse, it covers the basics of caring for decomposing flesh (If you experience an extreme freeze… your extremities should continue to function until they fall off), practical suggestions for overcoming obstacles, and instructions for attacking the living (The only thing more lethal than you is you on fire!). The blood-splattered pages contain copious diagrams, such as a zombie food pyramid, pie charts of infection methods, and instructions for operating doorknobs. The illustrations are as grossly explicit as the text is employee-handbook underplayed, making this an excellent choice for the zombie completist. (Oct.) Copyright 2010 Reed Business Information.

I’m totally psyched ’cause it JUST in time for Halloween!

Happy Reading, Everyone!

Kids’ Miniseries

There’s a new Kids in the Hall miniseries on IFC this week and I personally cannot wait!  It’s been almost 15 years since their last movie – and – growing up on them and their humor, I love that there’s new material coming from the first Fab Five!

Scott Thompson – if you’re reading this, I am single.

Anyway – I just thought I’d let y’all know about this and that you should watch it (or catch any of their old stuff on youtube).  They are F***ing Brilliant!

Happy Wednesday!

MST3K and Wine

Last night I went to Flippy’s for some food, wine and fun!  After watching Airplane! on demand, we saw a few snippets of shorts for Mystery Science Theater 3000.  I love that show and it grows on me with each episode I see.  If you haven’t seen one before – hey, check it out sometime.  They’re available on Netflix or on youtube.

After a half a bottle of merlot – I headed home and snapped a quick shot of me for y’all.  OK – it was to update my facebook pic.  But here it is:

That said – I hope everyone has a GREAT Tuesday!

Tiffany and Debbie Gibson: Together at Last

It’s MEGA PYTHON vs. GATOROID on SYFY and it’s starring those 80’s bitches, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson!!  Here’s a little peek into what’s going on in the flick (or is this real)….

You know me… cheesy movies, 80’s bitches, probably bad acting and music – AND there’s MICKY DOLENZ – yeah, I’m totally in front of the TV on this one, guys!

Not only It Could Have Been – IT IS!  Not only in their Electric Youth – it’s going on NOW!  Grab the popcorn and settle in for a night worthy of an Academy Award (or at least an MTV one).

* Drinking game at how many song references are used * hee hee

“I know that pop culture fanatics have been dying for Tiffany and me to collaborate for the past 24 years! What better way to do it than by battling each other in a campy romp through the Everglades?” Gibson states.

Adds Tiffany, “Only in my dreams have I been able to have a catfight with Debbie Gibson… until now! This is soo MEGA Cool!”

Hot in Syns

I had to watch “Hot in Cleveland” last night because I wanted to see how bad it was…

It wasn’t – I was shocked!  It’s damned funny, in fact – I am going to watch it non-stop now and you should too!  TV Land ROX!

If you haven’t found it – find it – and if you are watching it we should join a club or something!

Anyway – I hope everyone is having a GREAT summer so far!!

Craig’s List

Just a little note to say – OMG Ferguson KILLED last night at the Pabst!

Flippy and I went to see Craig Ferguson last night (his early show) and he was fucking brilliant!  One man show (besides his gay leather boy and soul brother that backed him up during his opening and closing numbers – you’d have to see it before I can even begin to discuss it).

What was really cool was that there was a booth for Pride Fest in the lobby – now whether or not Craig condoned this or they just were allowed – – well, either way it’s kind of cool.

Beforehand, we went to the Wicked Hop for drinks and food – by the way – their Tequila Chicken Wrap is to die for!!

If you can – and have a chance to – you should try to see him live.

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Molly, Pretty Molly, Somebody’s Wrote a Book and I’m Feeling So Glad.

Molly!  You know the gal from Pretty in Pink?  Breakfast Club?  Yeah, that one.  She wrote a book and it looks pretty interesting:  “Getting the Pretty Back”  Here’s more info…

Publisher Marketing:

The iconic Molly Ringwald shares intimate stories and candid advice in this fun, stylish, and sexy girlfriend’s guide to life

To her millions of fans, Molly Ringwald will forever be sixteen. As the endearing and witty star of the beloved John Hughes classics “Sixteen Candles,” “The Breakfast Club,” and “Pretty in Pink,” Molly defined teenage angst, love, and heartbreak. While remembered eternally as the enviable high school princess Claire, or the shy, vulnerable Samantha, Molly has just celebrated her fortieth birthday. Facing a completely new, angst-inducing time in her life, she is embracing being a woman, wife, mother of three, actress, and best friend with her trademark style, candor, and humor.

In “Getting the Pretty Back,” Molly encourages every woman to become “the sexiest, funniest, smartest, best-dressed, and most confident woman that you can be.” She shares personal anecdotes and entertaining insights about the struggle to get through the murky milestones and identity issues that crop up long after the prom ends. Whether she’s discussing sex and beauty, personal style, travel and entertaining, motherhood, or friendship, Molly embodies the spirit of being fabulous at every age, and reminds us all that prettiness is a state of mind: it’s “the part of you that knows what you really want, that takes risks.”

Also – I NEED to get this book: “A Beginner’s Guide to Acting English” by Shappi Khorsandi.  It’s not available in the US (used copies run about $30 or so) – If you live in the UK, you’re in luck though!  She’s a comedian in the UK and was just wonderful on the Graham Norton Show last week.  If you can, check it out at the library at least!  Here’s more about her book:

In the tradition of Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love and Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals, comes a story of a young narrator in the midst of her eccentric family. But rather than landed gentry or bohemian travelers, it’s a mad extended Iran clan who flee Tehran to 1980s Britain after the fall the Shah. Five year old Shappi and her beloved brother Peyvand arrive with their parents in London—all cold weather and strange food—without a word of English. If adapting to a new culture isn’t troubling enough, it soon becomes clear that the Ayatollah’s henchmen are in pursuit. With the help of MI5, Shappi’s family go into hiding. So apart from checking under the family car for bombs every morning, Shappi’s childhood is like any other kids—swings in the park, school plays, kiss-chase, and terrorists.
Shappi Khorsandi was born in 1973 in Tehran and moved to London with her family in 1976 who were exiled after the revolution of 1979.  A stand-up comedian, she has performed all over the world including her annual sell-out run at the Edinburgh festival.

Syns of the Family Guy

I love this quote from the actress that portrayed “Ellen” a girl with down syndrome – The actress, Andrea Fay Friedman, who also has down syndrome, recently replied on Sarah Palin’s negative remarks on the Family Guy episode (mainly Palin’s opinion that it was ‘hurtful and prejudiced’):

“I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”  In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life.”

Bravo, Miss Friedman!

Canadian Syns

I’m going out on my own on this one, probably no one else feels this way – but here it goes:

I HATE THE WINTER OLYMPICS!!

It screws with my TV Time.

Sure the men in their skating/ski gear are hot and stuff but can we limit it to one day?  Please?  This is overkill – I’m sure all the events could be held at various locations perhaps during a weekend?  It gets old after awhile.  From the overlong opening to the never-ending closing – I’m just sick of it!

It’s great for good will and foreign relations – but that could be achieved with a small dinner and non-televised,right?  The frickin’ Olympics are messing up mhy TV watching!  I miss coming home and sitting down and having 3-4 episodes of some TV show or another to pick from on DVR.

*sighs*

Thank god it’s only – – EVERY 2 YEARS.

Really?

Golly – I can’t wait.

(Well especially for the Summer Olympics cuz they’re in summer when there’s no good TV and the men are in little bathing suits.  Please note I really don’t mind the Summer Olympics at all!   In fact, they should make up more ‘sports’ for the men’s division – like water wrestling (in an inch of water, mind you) or men’s tanning, men’s free style sun lotion applications, or maybe a HOTTEST BUNS contest?  Just a few thoughts…..)

Janice!

I had this in my head today, thought I’d share with you this AWESOME line from the totally cool movie, The Great Muppet Caper.  These lines are uttered by Janice (that totally rad band chick from Electric Mayhem).  It’s said just after Kermit tells everyone to be quiet, but Janice being Janice (read stoned) she goes on talking…..

“So I said… ‘Look, Mother. It’s my life. OK. So if I want to live on a beach and walk around naked…’ Oh.”
