I think it’s annoying how Kurt is being portrayed. 1st Season this character showed us that it’s ok to be different and he was actually a strong personality.
This season he’s a whiny fag. OMG!
Not only did he become a wimp and a parody of himself, he BACKED down when faced with a bully.
It shows that we (gays), should just run and hide.
Really?
I, for one, am sick of this plan of action.
Anyone else?

I agree – in part. I HATED that Kurt left McKinley, especially after what Finn and everyone else did to support and back him up. I mean, I know it had to be very scary but, as someone who was bullied very often in grade school and high school for being fat, sometimes that was scary, too. Did confronting the bully always work? No, of course not. Did telling people in control always work? Nope. But leaving wasn’t even an option.
I agree!
We’ve discussed this at length, so you know I’m in total agreement with you.
yep yep!
I have very conflicting feelings on this subject.
Although I really did love that he was portrayed in such a wonderful light last season, I feel like this season, things are a little bit more real for Kurt. Sometimes, even when you are supported, it comes too little, too late. This particular season he has been shown to be a victim. And sometimes victims run away. By the time he leaves McKinley, he has a clear case of PTSD and IMO it would be utterly absurd for him to stay in a dangerous situation.
The funny thing is that until Kurt’s dad mentioned having to spend his honeymoon $$$ on Kurt’s tuition, I really had the impression that Kurt’s dad had plenty of money. I was actually a bit perplexed as to why Kurt would be sticking around McKinley when he could go to Sausage Fest High instead.
I wonder what other factors played into this decision: Was the actor needing some time off? Were the writers looking to sideline Kurt for a few eppies & thus give Santana, Britney, etc more face time? Were the writers merely wanting to play out the story of Kurt’s harrassment & eventual return to McKinley across the whole season?
My age-inappropriate Ex-BF called me right after this eppy aired, all upset over the portrayal of gays & how the message here seems to be that it’s OK to run away from your problems. I don’t think that in this day & age we need “messages” and “gay role models”–this is not the 80s when the only gay ppl you saw on TV were dying of AIDS. The fact of the matter is that sometimes you can’t rely on other people to save you from a hostile situation & that you HAVE to take yourself out of the situation. Lord knows if I had the choice between shitty public skool where I had no protection vs a high skool full of boys from the right side of the track (complete with orthodontia & an anti-bullying policy) I wouldn’t think twice….
Thanks for you input on this – I agree with you on most, I was one of those kids that needed to run away – I just think that the character of Kurt was stronger than this (and I thought his friends were stronger too).
I wouldn’t turn down Sausage Fest High…. hee hee
